Pedestrian struck and killed in vehicle collision
On 7/15/2020 at approximately 12:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of 37th Street and Cherry Avenue regarding a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision that resulted in the death of the pedestrian said Sgt. Ivan Garcia with Long Beach Police.
Upon arrival, LBPD officers located a male adult pedestrian with serious injuries.
Long Beach Fired Department arrived on scene and determined the pedestrian deceased at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was also transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
The reason for the traffic collision is still under investigation.
The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
Vehicle and pedestrian traffic is impacted in both directions.
The investigation is ongoing.
