Marine Fire in Long Beach Harbor

Long Beach Fire Department’s Lifeguard Rescue Boat 1 and 1st Alarm Assignment made quick work of a 40-foot pleasure craft vessel that was engulfed in flames earlier this afternoon in Alamitos Bay. Though no injuries were reported, fire investigators are currently looking into the origins of the fire.

Long Beach Prepares for Potential Heavy Rain, Winds

A storm system is bringing rain, winds, and cold weather to Southern California this morning, Monday, Oct. 25. The National Weather Service is predicting rain showers throughout the day with cooler temperatures in the evening. The heaviest rains are expected between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 pm. Light rain and cooler temperatures are expected to follow into the evening.

The Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego published a new finding on April 26, from a 14 day expedition in the area known to contain the highly toxic insecticide product called DDT along the Los Angeles coast.
